📅 September 12-14 | 📍 Arroios The 6th edition of this beloved festival returns with the theme "Forbidden Loves," bringing opera classics to the capital. Experience diverse cultural performances in one of Lisbon's most multicultural neighborhoods.

📅 September 14th, 17h onwards | 📍 Jardins do Palácio Marquês de Pombal Free outdoor concert featuring soul, funk, and hip-hop. Perfect for those Sunday evening vibes as summer transitions to autumn.

Last Call for Sardine Season! 🐟
September marks the final weeks of sardine season. Get your grilled sardines fix at these local favorites before they disappear:
Floresta das Escadinhas (R. de Santa Justa, 3, Baixa) - housed in a former church with specialty fresh sardines and communal wooden tables
Ponto Final (R. do Ginjal 72, Cacilhas) - take the ferry for incredible city views while you eat
Lisboa Tu e Eu (R da Adiça 58, Alfama) - tiny authentic spot where walls and tables are covered in customer signatures, famous for their perfectly fried sardines

Legends Charity Football Match - THIS MONDAY!
📅 September 15th | 📍 Estádio José Alvalade | 🎫 Tickets still available Portugal Legends (including Figo, Quaresma, and Deco) face World Legends (Kaká, Cafu, Del Piero, Seedorf) in front of 60,000 fans. All proceeds benefit charity, with Calema performing at halftime.
Lisbon Marathon Training Season
With the EDP Lisbon Marathon approaching on October 26th, local running clubs are in full training mode.
Rookie Run Club - Saturday 9am at Praça do Comércio, Wednesday 7:30pm at Cais do Sodré. "All about the people not the pace"
Lisbon Running Community - Tuesday 19:30 social run (6-10km, Cais do Sodré boat station), Thursday 19:30 intervals (4-8km, INATEL de Alvalade track or under 25 Abril bridge), Sunday 9am social run (6km, Quest Cafe, Santos)

Exhibition Spotlight
Entre os vossos dentes | Paula Rego and Adriana Varejão at Centro de Arte Moderna Gulbenkian (Rua Marquês da Fronteira, 2). This unprecedented dialogue brings together 80 works exploring themes of violence, colonialism, and power. Open Wednesday-Monday, 10am-6pm.

🚇 TRANSPORT UPDATES
⚠️ Metro Strike Alert - (September 11th)
Metro services will be suspended from 6:30am to 10am due to partial strike action. Service expected to return to normal from 10:30am. This follows Monday's similar disruption.
Upcoming: Carris Strike Alert
Be aware that Carris workers have announced a 24-hour strike planned for September 18th, which will affect buses and trams. Plan alternative transport or allow extra time for that day. We'll confirm these details in next week's newsletter.
